Dr. Lenley Adams, MD FRCPC

Lenley Adams received his medical degree from Dalhousie University in 1991 and completed training in Internal Medicine at Dalhousie in 1995. After two and a half years of Internal Medicine practice in Kenora, Ontario, he moved to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.

In August 2008, he relocated to Charlottetown where he practices Internal Medicine with an interest in diabetes care and is currently the medical director for the Provincial Diabetes Program.

Carmel Donaldson, RN, BN, CDE

Carmel received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1984. She started in the Provincial Diabetes Program in 2005 and received her CDE in May 2008.

Carmel recently transferred into the Pediatric Program in the fall of 2008.

Mary Laura Coady, RD, CDE

Mary Laura started working with the Provincial Diabetes Program in 2007. Since that time she has worked at all locations across PEI. In 2009 she successfully achieved her Certified Diabetes Educator certificate.

Outside of work Mary Laura enjoys a variety of activities, some of which include: alpine skiing, snowshoeing, running and gardening.


Jana Corish, RN, B.Sc.N., MN, CDE

Jana is a Diabetes Nurse Educator in the Summerside Office of the Provincial Diabetes Program. She has worked there since October 2005.

Prior to her job with the Diabetes Program, she was employed as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Prince County Hospital in Summerside. Jana's nursing education began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from UPEI School of Nursing in 2000 followed by a Master of Nursing degree from Dalhousie University in 2007. Jana became a Certified Diabetes Educator in May 2009.

Viola Evans-Murley, MSW, RSW, CEM

Viola Evans-Murley, MSW, RSW, CEM joined the team of the Provincial Diabetes Program as our Health Education Consultant in August, 2001. Viola holds Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie University in Halifax, and a Masters of Social Work from Memorial University, Newfoundland. Viola is a certified Elder Mediator with Family Mediation Canada.

Viola's previous work experience includes that of a Senior Social Worker with Child & Family Services and extensive work as a social worker throughout Prince Edward Island. Prior to this she was employed by the Department of Veteran's affairs.

Locally, she is involved with the Advocacy Committee of the Prince Edward Island division of the Canadian Diabetes Association. In 2008 Viola received the Regional Outstanding Health Professional Award from the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Welda MacArthur

Program support for the Queens program is provided by Welda MacArthur who has been with the Diabetes Program for 22 years. Welda received her education at Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

She has previous work experience with Medicare, New Brunswick, in property management and with CHTN Radio.

Cathie MacFadyen-Arsenault, RN, CDE

Cathie MacFadyen-Arsenault, RN, CDE, Nurse Educator started with the Diabetes Program in 1999. She received her nursing diploma from the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Cathie has maintained her CDA certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator since 2002.
Cathie brings to the program previous experience in Acute Care Nursing, and experience in Long Term Care and Palliative Care nursing as a Nurse Manager at the Prince Edward Home, Charlottetown, P.E.I.. She also obtained Diploma in Public Administration from UPEI during that time.

She has also owned and operated a number of private health related small businesses. Cathie has acted locally on a number of Provincial Diabetes Management Committees for the Province of Prince Edward Island.

Michelle Hogan, RN BN CDE

Michelle Hogan began with the Diabetes Program in May, 2002 as a diabetes nurse educator.

She received her Diploma in Nursing from the Prince Edward Island School of Nursing, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of New Brunswick.

Michelle became a certified Diabetes Educator in 2006.

Trish Collins, RN, CDE

Trish has been a registered nurse for 28 years. She has practiced nursing in pediatrics and home care.

For the last several years, Trish has been a Certified Diabetes Educator with the Provincial Diabetes Program.

She enjoys running and biking and loves to dance.

Kyla Wood, B.Sc(Hons), RD

Kyla started working with the Provincial Diabetes Program in August 2009. She received her Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Prince Edward Island and completed her Internship through the UPEI/QHR Integrated Internship Program.

Kyla worked in Public Health and Primary Care in Ontario before returning to PEI. Kyla is currently working towards obtaining her certification as a Diabetes Educator.

Joanne Sullivan, B.ScN, RN, CDE

Joanne has worked with the diabetes program for 7 years in the Montague and Souris offices. She received her diploma in Nursing from the Prince Edward Island School of Nursing and her Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing from St. Francis Xavier University.

Joanne became a Certified Diabetes Educator in 2002. Joanne has worked as an emergency room nurse at the Kings County Memorial Hospital.

Joan has previous work experience in the Health Records Department at the King County Hospital and also with the Eastern School District.

Debby Landry

Debby provides program support for the Provincial Diabetes Program - Charlottetown office. She has been with the Diabetes Program for a little over five years. Debby received her Business Administrative Diploma and an Administrative Assistant Certificate from Holland College, Charlottetown, PEI.

She has previous work experience within the Queens Region, the Provincial government, DVA, and CNIB-New Brunswick.

Libby Logan BASc, RD, CDE

Libby Logan is a Registered Dietitian who has been working with the PEI Provincial Diabetes program for 9 years. She is currently working at the Summerside and O'Leary program sites. She is a graduate of the University of Guelph in 1974 in Applied Human Nutrition.

She completed an dietetic internship at the Hospital for Sick Children. She became a Certified Diabetes Educator in 2008 and is a member of the Diabetes Educator Section of CDA.
